PHS-COI Training

Who is required to complete the COI training?

All PHS Investigators must complete training once every four years.  PHS investigators may include faculty, research associates, post-doctoral scholars, fellows, graduate students, or any individual listed by name on a sponsored project.

How do I locate the training module?

COI training will be conducted through the CITI (pronounced "city") training module.  CITI is also used by the IRB and IACUC for their respective training requirements.  There is one module that needs to be completed for COI training.  Modules consist of material to read and a quiz.  If you fail the quiz, you may re-take it.  There is no alternate COI training accepted for COI at Clemson University.  Users may already have a log in if they have completed IRB or IACUC training.  Below are the log-in instructions:

New Users:

  1. Go to https://www.citiprogram.org/
  2. Register as a New User
  3. Select Clemson University as the "Participating Institution"
  4. Enter personal information, create username and password, enter ethnicity and gender
  5. Enter the required information of the learner registration page.  Institutional email address is your Clemson email address
  6.  Select the Conflict of Interest check box
  7. Finalize your registration
  8. You will need to check your email box and confirm your address.  Course should be available to you after you confirm your address
  9. Re-take modules as needed to receive a 80% score
  10. Once completed, a notice of completion will be sent automatically to the Clemson University COI office with 24 hours

Returning Users to CITI:

  1. Go to https://www.citiprogram.org/
  2. Log in with username and password
  3. Select "Add a course or update your learner groups for Clemson University"
  4. Select Conflict of Interest
