Innovation is critical to moving the discoveries that come from research to the public. The private-sector business community plays an essential role in translating research into products that serve the needs of the public, from cell phones that don’t shatter when dropped to safer, more fuel efficient automobiles, to medical devices that relieve suffering and improve the quality of life.
According to the U. S. Small Business Administration, innovative small businesses have generated up to 80 percent of net new jobs each year for the past decade.
The Clemson University Innovation Network is a web of university facilities that foster collaboration and innovation. Eighteen Clemson University Innovation Partners have either licensed Clemson University intellectual property or are located in University-based facilities.
