InfoEd Marketing Flyer

InfoEd PROFILE, GENIUS, SPIN, and SMARTS modules provide Clemson University faculty, staff, and graduate research assistants with one-stop availability to funding opportunity information, custom formatted vitae, and potential collaborators worldwide.

What is InfoEd PROFILE?
InfoEd PROFILE allows you to set up your personal profile, entering keywords and filtering criteria to reflect your research, instruction, and/or public service interests. New funding opportunities which match your criteria are automatically e-mailed to you on a daily basis via InfoEd SMARTS. PROFILE also provides you easy access to your personal, customizable curriculum vitae (CV).

What is InfoEd GENIUS?
InfoEd GENIUS makes your profile available to potential collaborators worldwide. A GENIUS / CV Database search feature allows you to locate possible research collaborators from more than 31,000 profiles at over 600 institutions, including Clemson University.

What is InfoEd SPIN?
The InfoEd SPIN / Find Funding module allows you to perform customized searches for funding opportunities at more than 4,900 government (US and international) and corporate agencies and foundations around the world, providing links to over 18,000 programs. New funding opportunities are e-mailed to you automatically when information in your personal InfoEd PROFILE matches keywords and other funding criteria in the SPIN module.

What is InfoEd SMARTS?
InfoEd SMARTS is the link between your InfoEd PROFILE, keywords, and filtering criteria, and SPIN funding opportunities. You receive automatically generated SMARTS e-mails on a daily basis as funding opportunities become available which match your criteria. Each funding opportunity includes links to InfoEd’s detailed program summary and the sponsor’s web site.

Can I Use InfoEd’s PROFILE / GENIUS / SPIN / SMARTS?
InfoEd is available to all Clemson University faculty, staff, and graduate research assistants who have a current Clemson University user ID & password if they are active in CUBS.

Has An InfoEd PROFILE Been Set Up For Me?
A very basic profile has been created for you by the Clemson University Office of Sponsored Programs if you have:

  • received a grant, cooperative agreement, or fellowship award as a Clemson faculty or staff member (either as PI or Co-PI) between 1993 and 1998, or,
  • been included, either as PI or Co-PI, in a Clemson University proposal which was processed through the Office of Sponsored Programs after 1998, or
  • served on a protocol committee at Clemson any time since 1993.

If you have never been included on a proposal processed through Clemson University’s Office of Sponsored Programs, nor served on a protocol committee at Clemson University, contact Karen Pless (kpless@clemson.edu) or Nalinee Patin (npatin@clemson.edu) for assistance with setting up your profile.

To login to InfoEd, go to http://infoed.clemson.edu , click “Login,” enter your Novell username and password, and hit “Enter.” Login from off-campus will require a one-time download of Clemson Virtual Private Network (VPN).

How Do I Set Up My PROFILE?
If you do not have a PROFILE in InfoEd, contact Nalinee Patin (npatin@clemson.edu) so that she can create the initial profile in InfoEd. The Quick Reference Profile Sheet will guide you through entering your own information so that you can begin receiving pertinent funding alert e-mails.

Follow the simple steps on the Quick Reference - Search for Collaborators to perform searches for potential collaborators at Clemson or other institutions available through InfoEd.
