Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Where do I go for help on trademarks and copyrights?
A:  The Office of Technology Transfer has been designated as the department to assist and process all University Intellectual Property requests. This includes patenting of University technology, copyrighting of material related to University inventions, and trademarks related to University services and/or inventions.

Q:  What is the first thing I need to do if I believe that I have a patentable invention?
A:  The first step is to disclose your technology to the Office of Technology Transfer. You can do that by filling out the Confidential Invention Disclosure Form and submitting it to Mrs. Janet Dillon, at gjanet@clemson.edu or call 864-656-4237.

Q:  If I have any questions about patents, trademarks, or copyright policy whom do I call?
A:  Contact Ms. Vincie Albritton at 864-656-5708

Q:  If I have any questions about the Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) or the Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (MDA) whom do I call?
A:  Both the Material Transfer Agreement and the Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement can be found on the OTT webpage, under Online Forms.  If you have proposed changes to these agreements and/or questions, please contact JoAnne Williams, Senior Contract Advisor, at 864-656-5266

Q:  Who can sign for the University on MTA’s and MDA’s?
A:  The Vice President for Research (Dr. Chris Przirembel), the Interim Director of Technology Transfer (Ms. Vincie Albritton) and the Director of Sponsored Programs (Dr. Vincent Gallicchio) are the University representatives with signature authority for Material Transfer Agreements and Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreements.
