Federal Funding

Most federal and many non-profit agencies utilize electronic proposal submission procedures. Electronic proposal submission follows the same procedures as paper submissions with the following exceptions:

• Principal investigators must first contact their department or college grant coordinator to determine appropriate procedures for registration when information is not provided on this site
• Actual submission through electronic programs will be performed by Grant Administrators with appropriate signature authority as granted by the Vice President of Research & Economic Development.
• Request for Electronic Username/Registration - Required for NSF, NIH or any sub-agency of DHHS. Registration requests should be made as far in advance of proposal submission deadlines as possible, but no later than 3 days prior to electronic submission due dates to ensure registration and allow for on-time proposal submission.

Principal investigators at Clemson University are not authorized to submit proposals. One complete hard copy of the entire proposal packet and Clemson University Proposal Processing Form must be routed and signed by appropriate campus authorizing officials including, but not limited to, the Chair, Dean, Director, Office of Sponsored Programs, and the Vice President for Research & Economic Development, denoting prior approval in ample time before the external electronic submission deadline.
