Method to Request Electronic Username/Registration for NSF & DHHS/NIH thru CU’s Sponsored Programs

DATE: October 14, 2009

To obtain a new NSF or DHHS/NIH username through the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) complete and submit the Request for Electronic Username/Registration form on the OSP web site at least 3 days prior to proposal submission.

You can access the form, which requires a Novell username and password, from the Forms & Templates page, or from the Federal Funding page. Logging in to the form will automatically populate your name, e-mail, and department. After providing required information, click “Submit.” Appropriate staff in OSP will be notified of your request.

When your NSF FastLane or DHHS/NIH Commons account has been created, you will receive two automated e-mails – one from the sponsor and one from “Clemson University Office of Sponsored Research.” Fastlane will send your NSF ID#; NIH Commons will send your temporary password. Using the additional information provided in the automated e-mail from this office, you will be able to login to the appropriate site and update your personal profile, allowing you to be PI or co-investigator on a proposal to these agencies.

This form will be the only method for requesting an NSF FastLane or NIH Commons user account through OSP. The direct link to the electronic username/registration form is http://tinyurl.com/cu-osp-ereg.
