Nature of Quilts Symposium - July 21, 2007

Change of plans...the symposium has been changed to a 1-day event!
Join us for this special day-long quilting event in celebration of quilters and fiber artists interested in expanding their knowledge on design, technique, styles, history, and professional development. Lectures and workshops are led by industry leaders who will share their knowledge and expertise with you and explore new possibilities in quilting at the beautiful South Carolina Botanical Garden!
Registrations must be made in advance and is limited to 20 participants. Registration deadline is Friday, July 13!
All symposium sessions will be held at the Hayden Conference Center and Nature Learning Center located in the SC Botanical Garden. Proceeds benefit the Discovery Center Gallery and other ongoing cultural events held in the SC Botanical Garden. Be sure to bring you own latest creation for a fun Show &Tell during lunch! Door prizes too.

Dottie Moore of Rock Hill, SC
Dottie's Gardening the Imagination: Creating Quilts Inspired By Nature will surely inspire your creativity and bring new ideas into quilting.
The morning will include a walk through the gardens to gather ideas, plus discussions and design exercises to explore ways to interpret your inspiration into quilt art. You will take home at least one quilt design. Dottie is passionate about helping each participant discover his or her unique artist’s eye. Her open and straightforward style of teaching makes this workshop relaxing and fun. Print Supply List.
Dottie Moore is an internationally recognized fiber artist who shares her enthusiasm graciously through workshops, lectures and has been published extensively.

Dixie Haywood, Pendleton, SC is one of the featured artists for July - September in the Discovery Center Gallery. We are honored to have this member of the "Who's Who in American Quiltling" teach this year.
Dixie made her first quilt in 1955; second in the late 1960's and has been continuously quilting every since and is an award-winning quiltmaker, NQA certified teacher and judge. She has authored several books such as the Contemporary Crazy Quilt Project, Crazy Quilting with a Difference, Perfect Pineapples, Precision Pieced Quilts Using the Foundation Method and Firm Foundations, along with numerous articles. She has helped found qulit guilds in California, Oklahoma and Florida and served as consultant on the Florida Quilt Heritage project. Dixie is a current member of the Lake & Mountains Quilt Guild in Seneca. |
