Interesting workshops and lectures are held throughout the year for you to expand your gardening knowledge. This listis a sample of the variety of programs we offer here at the SCBG. Check the Calendar for current schedule. ~ First Friday Nature Walks |

| Family Nature Adventures: A hands-on science program for families. Programs are open to children ages 8-12 and an adult family member or friend. Programs include: -Forest Foray -Plants and Their Partners -Discovering Flowers -Meet a Tree -Birds in the Garden Junior Naturalists: Embark on an exciting journey into the natural world with staff from the SCBG and the Campbell Geology Museum. The natural history of plants, animals and geology comes alive through fun and interesting activities. Series ranges from 5 to 13 weeks. Garden Sprouts: Toddlers can discover nature too! Crafts, mini-nature walks and story time indtroduce 3-5 year olds to school-based activities. It's hands-on fun that fosters emerging literacy, science, and social development in a natural setting. | Fossil Adventures: Join the Campbell Geology Museum staff on a day-trip learning adventure. Visits to Gordan, Georgia where you can collect 40 million year-old fossils of fish, sharks, whales, and other ancient beasts. Children 10 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. "Collection Team" t-shirts, and collecting tools may be purchased at the museum gift shop. Fabricating Fossils: Adults and children 13 and older learn the basics of fossil reproduction. Methods of making molds, mixing plaster and resins, and painting the casts will be covered. Dress to get messy! Day camp adventures |
Garden Explorations Camp - brings science discovery to life! Why do butterflies like to visit certain flowers? Have youever followed the path of a raindrop? Discover the answers to these questions and others by participating in hands-on activities that combine science, gardening, art, writing and music. Garden Explorations encourages kids to take a closer look, ask questions and use their imaginations! Natural Discovery Camp - There's a lot to discover in the Garden! Why are birds considered dinosaurs? What in the earth makes earthquakes tremble and volcanoes explode? To find out, join us in an exploration of South Carolina's ancient plants and animals. Discover how to use plants to make soap, dye cloth, make medicine and more! Spend time in the Hunt Family Cabin experiencing life on a farm in the 1800's. Have you ever eaten a 100-year old tomato? Go with us to the Calhoun Field Laboratories organic vegetable garden as we learn how to grow and harvest plants for food and crafts! Listen to a storyteller spin tales of how life was in the 1800's on a SC farm. Celebrate your natural creativity doing nature-based crafts, creating sunprints, making your own paper, creating a garden stepping stone and much more. Check the Calendar for current schedule.
