Garden Explorations brings science discovery to life! Why do butterflies
like to visit certain flowers? Have you ever followed the path of
a raindrop? Discover the answers to these questions and others by
participating in hands-on activities that combine science, gardening,
art, writing and music. Garden Explorations encourages kids to take
a closer look, ask questions and use their imaginations!

There's lots to discover in the Garden! Why are birds considered
dinosaurs? What in the earth makes earthquakes tremble and volcanoes
explode? To find out, join us in an exploration of South CarolinaŐs
ancient plants and animals. Discover how to use plants to make soap,
dye cloth, make medicine and more! Spend time in the Hunt Family
Cabin experiencing life on a farm in the 1800Ős. Have you ever eaten
a 100-year old tomato? Join us at the Calhoun Field Laboratories
organic vegetable garden as we learn how to grow and harvest plants
for food and crafts! Listen to a storyteller spin tales of how life
was in the 1800Ős on a South Carolina farm. Celebrate your natural
creativity doing nature-based crafts, creating sunprints, making
your own paper, creating a garden stepping stone and much more.
