Tributes & Naming Opportunities

Garden Benches

Of primary importance in any garden setting are the special spaces designed for resting and relaxation. Such spaces are ideal for personal reflection and meditation or to stop and admire a beautiful garden area. Garden benches are made from farm-grown mahogany and located on hardscape pads of concrete, brick or stone. Bench locations are predetermined by the Garden Manager.

For a $2,000 donation a donor can name a bench in the garden, which includes the cost of the five-foot bench, plaque, installation and maintenance for appearance and construction for 10 years and can be renewed for additional 10 year periods for $2,000 each period, or the going rate at the time of renewal. Benches will be replaced if necessary at the Garden's expense during the 10 year period.

Naming Opportunities & Endowments

Naming opportunities allow you to dedicate a garden area, walkway, building, or support a program. A portion of the gift is set aside in an endowment, which helps with the maintenance and operational costs associated with managing each site. This planning element allows for the perpetuation of the site or program for years to come for public enjoyment. You may also consider including the SCBG in your Estate Planning.

For a complete list of areas currently available for naming, or to discuss ideas on how you can make a contribution to the South Carolina Botanical Garden, please contact Christine Drais at 864-656-6205 or email; or Keith Barber at 864-656-656-2877 or email.
