Computers control water quality
Computerized water quality sensors control water flow and aerate the water when oxygen concentrations reach critical levels. They also alert managers of critical conditions. Initial investments for the computer system and construction costs for the Partitioned Aquaculture System are higher than those of conventional ponds. However, the return on investment is projected at 21 percent for the PAS compared to 7.5 percent for conventional ponds because of reduced feed and water costs.
