Partners
Supporting partners for genomics research at Clemson include the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the South Carolina General Assembly, and many others.

A new science and technology complex, funded in part by the S.C. General Assembly, is scheduled to open in 2002 on Clemson’s main campus. This 100,000-plus square foot facility will house the latest in molecular biology laboratories and climate-controlled greenhouses.

Future directions
While the primary focus is on agriculture, the high-tech analytical equipment at the Clemso n Geonomics Institute can be used by many diverse research areas, including biochemistry, math, computer science, and engineering. In fact, a collaborative effort by several research groups brought the latest computational mini-grid supercomputer to Clemson through an award from the National Science Foundation. This computer will support advanced research in the Genomics Institute, as well as other university research areas including the Clemson Center for Advanced Engineering Fibers and Films .
