Local Coalition Report: Lexington County

How aware are you of the problem of childhood overweight in your community? What evidence do you see in your work? Outside your work setting?

What’s happening in our community that supports healthy eating among children? What needs to be changed to help children eat better?

• Adult recreation centers needing a way to work with overweight children<age 15
• Variations in school districts with policies and practices for school foods. The need to start changes by parents/families may outweigh classroom effect
• ? Medications for children for controlling health issues

What’s happening on our community that supports physical activity among children? What needs to be changed to help children be more physically active?
