FIRE CADET CAMPS – Successful in preparing future firefighters and to introduce young people to the fire service and to promote fire safety awareness.

Funding Source: SC State Firemen’s Association
Partners: Chester County 4-H Extension Service, Chester Fire Department, Aiken Department of Public Safety

ACBC CAMP CAN DO – To give children with burn injuries the experience of a camp that allows them to be free in a safe environment and to help them achieve healthy self-concepts.

Funding Source: Aluminum Cans for Burned Children and The Medical University

GET FIRED UP 4-H FIRE SAFETY POSTER/CREATIVE WRITING CONTEST – To promote fire safety education (children K-12th) in a fun and creative way

Sponsors: Independent Insurance, Farm Bureau, SC Fireman’s Association

FREDDIE PROGRAMS – K-1st “Freddie’s Fire Smart Kids”
2nd – 3rd “Freddie’s Fire Safety Friends”
4th – 5th “Freddie Gets Fired Up”
Clemson University Extension Service combined with the SC State Fire Marshall’s office to develop, promote, and implement this fire safety curriculum (taught by Future Farmers and teachers, promoted by 4-H agents)
Some form of each program is being taught in every county each year – some counties are 100% -- using all 3 programs. Successfully prepares children (and their families) to be prepared and know what actions to take in case of fire; also teachers protection techniques (fire alarm, 2 way out, etc.) All subjects are part of the material – science, health, math, history, etc.

Funding: provided by Insurance Reserve Funds and SC Fire Department and Life Safety (Fire Marshall’s office)
