Youth Development
Providing opportunities for youth development
Youth development programs offered by Clemson University are built
on the premise of optimizing a young person's opportunity to grow,
develop and achieve in society today and in the future.
Many of these programs are offered through 4-H
activities, including skills in decision-making, citizenship, career
choice, communications, business management, and interpersonal relationships.
Life skills projects span traditional activities, such as livestock
judging, food preservation and sewing, as well as cutting-edge technologies
such as digital camera clubs, internet camps and international service
learning.
Educational programs are held regularly through
School Enrichment within communities and at the three 4-H Leadership
Centers around the state. Year-round activities for high-risk youth
are conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Departments
of Juvenile Justice, Social Services and Education.
In addition, Clemson's Institute
on Family and Neighborhood Life coordinates activities on the
state, regional, national and international level to strengthen
the ties between youth, families and communities.
