Past experience includes the following:
- The design of prescribed-curvature-distribution airfoils for high-efficiency gas turbine cascades.
- The analysis of unsteady flow fields in axial-turbomachinery stator-rotor interactions (unsteady flows, forces, and heat transfer).
- The prediction of the transient thermodynamic response of turbomachinery components and plants (including axial and centrifugal compressors and turbines, and heat exchangers).
- Experimental measurements of transient flows in centrifugal compressors.
- The design and performance predictions of regenerative gas turbines.
Much of the above work is analytic and computational. Some capabilities in our laboratories include a low turbulence wind tunnel with test section 2 ft. by 2 ft., various lasers, and a turbocharger set up for steady and transient flow measurements.
