OFFSHORE WIND FEASIBILITY STUDY

While South Carolina does not possess any “conventional” energy resources (coal, oil, gas, or uranium), it does have plentiful supplies of renewable energy in the form of biomass and offshore wind. Data from the Department of Energy indicates that South Carolina's offshore wind resources have the potential to produce over twice the amount of electricity that we consume today.

SCIES is conducting a detailed feasiblity study to determine the best locations for South Carolina's offshore wind farms and to identify the key issues that must be addressed to make the production of electricity from offshore wind a reality.
