South Carolina Seafood Alliance Work Plan 2003-2004

Contacts with outside interests

News media: The Alliance will generate at least one major newspaper, radio, or television article each quarter highlighting some positive aspect of the industry. Since shrimp is the single largest seafood product in South Carolina it is anticipated at least one, and possibly more of these news accomplishments will focus on the shrimp industry segment. Four news stories published or aired by one or more of the major media outlets highlighting some aspect of the Seafood industry is the yearly goal. At least one of these stories will concentrate on shrimp. Quarterly and years-end reports including copies of the news stories will be evidence of ‘success’.

Regulatory institution: The Alliance will make contact with SCDNR, SCDEHC, NMFS, and/or Federal or State legislative representatives as warranted to ensure lines of communications are kept open with offers to assist these regulatory institutions with industry perspectives on current topics of special interest. Variable contacts, with 3 per quarter a goal minimum.
