South Carolina Seafood Alliance Work Plan 2003-2004

Institute Partnerships

The Alliance will endeavor to establish partnerships with public and private enterprises to further the mission goals of the Alliance. The Alliance has already entered into one such partnership with the South Carolina Aquarium through their Sustainable Seafood Education Project, which is the Aquarium’s effort to promote fresh local seafood. A South Carolina signature fish, the wreckfish, will be promoted. The Alliance has been active with the Aquarium to improve its displays by reviewing and critiquing past displays. Continue to partner with the SC Aquarium in display theme development. Report as appropriate.

Key Alliance personnel will investigate creating a shrimp and seafood industry video documentary, which could be sold in restaurants and visitor centers, by partnering with Clemson Universities Food Science & Human Nutrition Department, or other public or private business entities. Second quarter effort with report to Clemson University.

The alliance will identify potential partners and attempt to establish partnerships with those enterprises. Identify ten potential partner enterprises; establish one new partnership per quarter goal.
