Proposal: Investigators

The principal investigator, Dr. John W. Kelly, is the vice-president for Public Service and Agriculture at Clemson University and serves as one of the three academic vice-presidents at Clemson University. He provides leadership for the university-wide public service mission. His areas of responsibility include oversight of the extension service, the experiment station, several institutes, two regulatory units and service learning. He has 21 years experience as a university faculty member including 12 years as an administrator (department head, school director, Vice-President) responsible for private, local, state and federal funds from grant and non-grant sources.

The co-investigator, Dr. Susan F. Barefoot, is the associate dean for Food Safety and Nutrition and the interim director of the Food Safety Institute within the Public Service and Agriculture division at Clemson University. She is responsible for building and supporting interdisciplinary activities addressing food safety and nutrition issues relevant to the state, region, and nation. She has 19 years experience as a university faculty member including 5 years as an administrator (school director-assistant director for Extension and research and Associate Dean) responsible for private, local, state and federal funds from grant and non-grant sources in food systems, food safety and nutrition.
