Among community volunteers receiving awards at IFNL’s international family symposium was Ted Mattison (r) who is shown accepting an award for distinguished contributions to community life from Gary Melton, director, IFNL. Mattison has served as president of Williamston Action Community Club since 2001. The WACC’s Caroline Community Center, in partnership with IFNL’s Strong Communities, has offered play groups, parent/child activities, and other community supports.
Dr. Wayne Fowler, Anderson District 1 superintendent, accepted an award from Gary Melton, director, IFNL, recognizing the district as an exemplary school district. The presentation was made at a community luncheon recognizing schools that provide safe communities for children. Anderson 1 has partnered with Strong Communities to provide parent/child activities in schools and in the community. The district also supports families through its Family Services program.
