What certifications do the camp counselors have?

All counselors are required to be certified in CPR and First Aid. First Aid supplies will be on hand at all times. The van drivers are certified by the university.

What time can I drop off/pick up my child?

Campers may be dropped off from 7:30 am-8:30 am. Campers can be dropped off on the east side of Fike at the gym doors. Campers may be picked up from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm, pick-up will be held in the same area as drop off. If you have a problem picking your child up by 5:00 pm, please speak with the camp coordinator and we will plan accordingly.

How do I notify counselors about my child’s medical condition (allergy, asthma, etc.)?

You are required to fill out an information form on your child during registration. Medical conditions should be listed on this form. Anyone with further concerns should speak with the Camp Coordinator or Camp Director.

How will I know what the activities are for each week?

Every Monday there will be a schedule handed out which will include the daily activities and the field trips for the week. The schedule is tentative based on weather. If changes are made in advance, you will be notified.

Do I have to go to the program desk to pay for camp every week?

No. Once the registration fee has been paid you can give your check to a counselor at either drop off or pick up. Only checks will be accepted at drop-off and pick-up. Counselors will provide receipts at the time that the payment is received. Payments for the next camp must be received by the Thursday prior. Please do not send a payment with a camper or in a camper’s bag.

What forms of payment will be accepted?

The 2nd Floor Program Desk at Fike will accept Cash, Check and Credit Card payments. Only payments by check will be accepted at the time of drop-off and pick-up.

What should my child wear to Day Camp?

Children should wear comfortable clothes (t-shirts, shorts, etc.) and tennis shoes. Flip flops can only be worn in the pool area. Please keep in mind that children will be involved in indoor and outdoor activities and may get dirty. The building has a tendency to be cold; children may want to bring a sweatshirt or a jacket.

What does my child need to bring to Day Camp?

Everyday your child should bring their bathing suit, a towel, and a water bottle. Campers may also bring a small snack for afternoon break, if desired. If you would like for your child to wear sunscreen, you must send it along with them. We are NOT allowed to use anyone else’s sunscreen on another child.

Can I eat lunch with my child?

We will eat lunch most days at Harcombe Dining Hall. On field trips days we will eat lunch off campus. You are welcome to join us at Harcombe for lunch. If you would like to eat lunch with your child, please let a counselor know and plans will be made to meet at the dining hall.

How do I know my child is picked up safely?

You must list who is allowed to pick-up your child from camp on the registration form. Every morning and afternoon you must sign for your child to be dropped off and picked up. If your child is to be picked up by someone other than the names listed on the registration form we MUST have it in writing.

What is the procedure for the swim test?

Every Monday we will have a swim test. Once a camper has passed the swim test they do not have to take it again. The swim test requires that children swim one length of the pool without touching the side or bottom of the pool. Children that do not pass the swim test will be required to stay in the shallow end of the pool. Children that pass the test will be allowed in the deep end of the lap pool and the dive tank. All counselors and lifeguards will be in the pool area during swim time.

Does my child need money for the field trips?

Campers do not need money for the field trips. However, they may bring extra money with them for snacks. Campers will be responsible for taking care of their own money.

What should I do if I need to drop off/pick up my child during the day?

Arrangements to drop off/pick up your child at a time other than the drop-off and pick-up times should be made in advance with the Camp Coordinator, if possible. Regardless of prior notification, parents can drop-off/pick-up their child at the Entrance Control Desk of Fike. The Control Desk will have a camp schedule and radio communication with the camp counselors to coordinate the drop-off/pick-up of your child.
