Fike Recreation Center Offers ‘Gymsitter’ Service During Home Football Games

Going to the big football game, but don’t have tickets for the little ones? They can enjoy a day of fun in Clemson, too, with Fike Recreation Center’s ‘Gymsitter’ service.

Children ages 3 to 10 can participate in the program, which will be available on six football Saturdays (depending on game time): Citadel game on Sept. 6, the North Carolina State game on Sept. 13, the South Carolina State game on Sept. 20, the Maryland game on Sept. 27th, the Georgia Tech game on Oct. 18, and the Duke game on Nov. 15. The fee is $50 per child in advance and $60 per child after the registration deadline, if space is available.

Children will be able to participate in a number of activities, such as relay races, swimming, making crafts, and listening to story tellers and other speakers.  A snack will be provided.  The children will be supervised by the Gymsitter staff, who are all CPR/AED and First Aid certified and have experience working with children.

“The entire family can come for the weekend. Not only does Fike serve students, but also the Clemson community and members of our Clemson family who travel from out of town,” said Susan Pope, Director of Fitness Programs and Services for the Department of Campus Recreation. “We want to give children a taste of the Clemson experience.”

To register a child for Gymsitters, contact Fike Recreation Center at (864) 656-6559 or download the registration form here. Forms and payment must be faxed or mailed and received no later than the Monday before the game to get the early registration fee.
