Resident Assistants

The Resident Assistant (RA) lives and works with a group of 30 to 60 students in a residence hall community. This position involves personal advising; management of a floor/area of undergraduate students; administrative duties including community desk duty and room inventory. The position calls for a person with a degree of maturity, flexibility and effective communication skills for confronting inappropriate behaviors or infractions and conducting programming. Additional criteria to become an RA include: 1) a minimum a cumulative grade point average of 2.25 and 2) an academic classification of sophomore or above. Residence hall living experience is preferred.

Desk Assistants

An individual in the Desk Assistant position manages the front desk of each building. The Desk Assistant serves as the primary customer service representative. They monitor resident entry to the building and verify residency. They perform administrative tasks such as checking out keys, answering the phone and recording incidents in the log-book. The hours of operation for the community desks vary between 12 and 18 hours a day.
