The Resident Director position is a graduate assistantship. Through this experience you will gain both practical skills and experience that will set you apart from other new professionals in the future. Residential Life highly values this connection and encourages you to take advantage of this learning process.

The Resident Director position at Clemson University is a graduate assistantship for a full-time graduate student. University Housing encourages all interested students to apply for the position. However, preference will be given to applicants who plan to enroll in the Student Affairs program.

We encourage you to investigate our programs to ensure that they will meet your needs as a student. Also, please keep in mind that if you are offered a position as a Resident Director, you must be accepted and enroll in the Graduate School. If you do not meet the standards of the Graduate School and/or the individual program you are interested in, you may not accept the position.

Applicants must apply to the Graduate School before March 1, 2009. If you are offered a position before you are accepted, keep in mind that the offer is contingent on your acceptance to the Graduate School and Program.

  • 2 letters of reference
  • transcript
  • interview (optional)
  • letter of intent referencing why you are interested in the program and why the faculty should consider you a successful candidate for admission.
Additionally, these programs recommend that a successful candidate will have:
  • minimum 3.0 GPA from undergraduate work
  • appropriate combined score on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE (mean from past admission equals 980)
