Campus Health Behavior Research

Health Promotion Services administers two national surveys designed to gather information about student behaviors, attitudes, and perceptions regarding various health issues. We use the CORE survey and the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) survey to gather this information. These surveys are done either annually or bi-annually.

We collaborate with other campus departments and faculty members to insure the information we collect offers an accurate account of student behaviors by drawing from a truly random sampling of the student population. This information helps university leaders develop health-related policies and programs specifically for the Clemson University community. These surveys collect information on a wide variety of college health issues including general health, alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, sexual behaviors and sexual assault, violence and safety, eating disorders and nutrition, health/wellness programs and education, and programs and policy.

Health Promotion Services also works collaboratively with the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) and the Redfern Health Center Quality Improvement Committees to improve services for students at Clemson University.
