University policy requires all students registered for seven or more credit hours (three hours during summer terms) pay the University health fee. The Health Fee covers the professional services of the health care provider, counseling and psychological services and health promotion. All other services incur additional charges. You pay a reduced cost for these services when you pay the Health Fee. Price lists are posted at the Appointment Check-In Desk and Pharmacy. The Health Fee also provides an excess accident and sickness benefit.
After-hours excess accident and sickness benefit
Included in the health fee is an after-hours excess accident and sickness benefit. This benefit (a secondary insurance up to a maximum of $500) is payable for urgent problems that arise after-hours for the student with no primary health insurance coverage. For students with primary health insurance coverage, this benefit will pay towards their deductible and out-of-pocket expenses up to a maximum of $500 for urgent problems only. The insurance company determines eligibility for benefits. Claim forms for the secondary insurance must be filed and received by the insurance company within 180 days of the date of injury/sickness. It is the student's responsibility to file all completed claim forms within the required time. Claim forms are located at the Appointment Check-In desk and the Student Insurance office at Redfern Health Center.
