Graduate Student Orientation


Welcome to Clemson University! The graduate school orientation program at Clemson University provides the information and resources to ensure a successful transition to your graduate studies. The program promotes discussion among all graduate students - masters, doctoral and post-doc - alongside faculty and staff on campus community and graduate education.


Graduate Student Orientation will be held Monday, August 21, 2017You may view the schedule of events here; a copy will be provided to you at check-in. The general schedule is listed below:

8 - 8:30 a.m.

     Check-in

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

     Graduate Student Welcome

10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.*

     University Convocation

4 - 6 p.m.

     Graduate Student Engagement Sessions

*Between noon - 4 p.m., various events will be held across campus to view and enjoy the Great American Eclipse appearing directly over Clemson, SC at 2:37 p.m.

Orientation Registration

Online registration for orientation is now closed. If you are an accepted new graduate student for 2017 fall semester and you did not register for orientation, we invite you to attend as a walk-in participant. No fee is required to attend. Because of the unique event of the Great American Eclipse occurring directly over Clemson, only one orientation will be held on Clemson Main Campus to allow new graduate students to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.


All students are encouraged to attend the Main Campus orientation. If you previously registered for the Graduate Orientation Virtual Ticket option, you will be emailed a web address to watch the Graduate Student Welcome (8:30-9:30 a.m.) Following this program, you will be able to access the University Convocation program (10-11:45 a.m.) via web stream as well. The Graduate Student Engagement Sessions will not be available via web stream.

If you are registered for orientation, you will receive more information by email about check-in, schedule details, parking and transportation.

Parking and Transportation for the Orientation Session

If you plan to have a vehicle on campus while enrolled at Clemson, your vehicle must have a campus parking pass from Parking and Transportation Services. To obtain a parking pass, visit the Parking and Transportation Services website.


Parking for the orientation program will be available on a limited basis at Lot C-11, adjacent to the Brooks Center Theatre. NOTE: you do need a valid Clemson parking pass to park in this lot.

 

Transportation to and from CU-ICAR will be available on Monday, August 21. The first Tiger Commute will leave ICAR at 7 a.m., then departing every two hours. Tiger Commute will depart Clemson at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and last bus at 7 p.m. The regular Tiger Commute schedule begins on Wednesday, August 23.
