New Student Orientation Summer 2009

The following information is presented to parents as they attend summer 2009 Orientation sessions. If we had to pick five of the most important topics to address when talking with parents, they would be:

For each topic, you’ll find below details about what you need to know and what steps you should take to make sure your student is prepared and successful at Clemson University.

Health

  1. Accredited Health Center - Redfern Health Center
  2. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) 
  3. Medical Clearance Form
  4. Students health fee
  5. Health Insurance Plan

Safety

  1. 24/7 police coverage
  2. 911 emergency
  3. Common sense precautions
  4. Safety escort service
  5. Students can sign up for emergency text messaging service

Housing

  1. Freshmen live on campus
  2. Academic success and on-campus living
  3. Freshmen assignments will be available in mid-July
  4. Orientation showrooms
  5. Move-in day Saturday, August 15

Food

  1. Meal plan sign-up
  2. Tiger 1 Card andTigerStripe

Finances

  1. Bills are ONLY available online, starting mid-July
  2. Pay your online bill by credit card or by check
  3. Confirm enrollment to use financial aid as payment
  4. Refunds via direct deposit
  5. Laptops – Visit the information table at Orientation or explore individual options online
  6. Text books – The University Bookstore will package orders and have them waiting
