Division of Student Affairs

Vice President's Message

Dr. Gail DiSabatino, VP for Student Affairs

Dear Students:

Summer is a special and unique time for us in the Division of Student Affairs. Even though the large majority of students have left campus for a few months, our student-driven focus doesn’t stop. We are still busy as we prepare to meet our newest class of Tigers and welcome back old friends in the fall.

While you might not see residence hall rooms filled with students, our dedicated Housing staff is making sure assignments for the fall are set. Cosmetic upgrades are also underway in Clemson House and Calhoun Courts, with new lounge furniture being installed in various halls across campus. When new students check into their residence halls on Saturday, August 16, and when returning students check in on Sunday, August 17, each room will be ready for its new tenants.

Our Orientation staff is a flurry of activity with Orientation sessions. Running from June 13 to July 11, we will be welcoming incoming students and their parents to campus to offer face-to-face support in preparing for the transition to college. Twenty-nine students are on campus this summer volunteering their time as Orientation Ambassadors to guide students and parents through the process – and to give them the first-hand knowledge that we know will be greatly valued.

New Student and Sophomore Programs is excitedly preparing Clemson Connect events for new students, featuring the “One Clemson” program facilitated by the Gantt Intercultural Center. This program will illustrate the University’s commitment to respect as one if its core values while giving   new students an opportunity to meet new people and think in new ways.

These are just a few of the ways that the Division of Student Affairs is preparing for each student’s arrival in the fall. Have a safe and fun summer, and we look forward to seeing you on campus this   fall!

Sincerely,
