Section 8: Election Determination and Announcement of Results
- The winning candidate for each contested position must receive a plurality* of the total number of votes cast.
- In the case of a tie, run off elections for the tied office shall be conducted as quickly as possible, in the same manner as the general election, until a candidate receives a plurality.
- The President shall notify the graduate student body of the results of the election by noon (12:00 PM) of the day following the certification of the election results.
- The President shall provide a written certification of the results of the election to the GSG Advisor within twenty four (24) hours of the completion of the count.
- In the case of a paper ballot, the GEC shall also post a copy of the results in a public place within one (1) hour of the completion of the count.
*in an election contested by more than two candidates, plurality occurs when one candidate receives the most votes but not necessarily more than half of the votes
