The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association promotes local and organic agriculture in South and North Carolina by inspiring, educating, and organizing farmers and consumers.
Clemson Area Food Exchange (CAFE) is a cooperative group of small farms and gardeners located around the Clemson area. Each grower farms his/her land using strict standards to ensure that everything produced is chemical-free. All member farms are dedicated to supplying their customers with the freshest and highest quality vegetables, herbs, mill products, dairy, eggs, meats, fruits, flowers, and transplants. Participating farms vary in size and specialty, but all carry the common thread of dedication to community, environment, health and education.
Committed to improving the quality of live in South Carolina, the CIECD connects the resources of Clemson University, and other agencies, to the needs of South Carolina communities. The Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of South Carolina communities through research, education and outreach. The CIECD works with local partners and communities to support environmental sustainability through training and information sharing.
DRADT offers and provides disaster relief by connecting neighbors that need help with neighbors that want to help; regardless of race, religion, education, or income. They also provide disaster training that empowers individuals, schools, businesses and churches surrounding the Clemson community to unite their neighbors, and to extend their hand out of their local community.
The Geology Museum houses a large collection of rocks, minerals, fossils and gemstones. Their mission is to further the understanding of geology and earth science.
Healthy Campus focuses on the connection between health, sustainability and social justice. We foster collaboration among students, faculty and staff to ensure that the campus ecology is optimally and sustainably organized to support, strengthen and enhance health in the neighboring area.
Located in Edgefield, SC, the Long Cane Ranger District coordinates projects and manages natural resources of the Sumter National Forest. Coordinated work includes building fish habitat structures, wildlife seeding, trail maintenance, and other monitoring. They work to engage the community in keeping the forest clean and a continuous center for recreation and learning.
The Garden serves as an interdisciplinary resource center focusing on teaching, research and outreach that advances awareness of botanical, cultural and natural resources.
Also located at the Botanical Garden is a horticulture program for children that engages students, faculty and community residents in a program to garden and explore nature. Their efforts help teach children about the origins of different foods and plants. The Sprouting Wings Greeenhouse hosts local elementary school children to meet each week connecting the University with the local youth.
The mission of the Clemson Student Organic Farm (SOF) Project is to provide an experimental learning environment to develop and demonstrate farming systems and strategies that are ecologically, economically and socially sustainable, and that will strengthen local food systems.
Sustainable Horizon's Mission is to create authentic volunteer opportunities promoting sustainability through community service and environment conservation. Opportunities to engage in service range from Clemson region to South America and the rest of the world. Program areas and volunteer needs in Latin America include: medical, conservation, animal welfare, gender issues, community development, English teaching, child development, and business volunteers.
Upstate Forever promotes sensible growth and the protection of special places in the Upstate region of South Carolina. The membership-based, nonprofit organization covers ten counties (Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Laurens, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union), and we have three main programs: Land Trust, Sustainable Communities, and Clean Air and Water.
