Course Description:
The course will address several different topics relating to Occupational
Safety And Health Administration (OSHA) requirements and guidelines
for the work place. Electrical safety will be discussed as well
as ladder safety and fall protection. A variety of training aids
will be utilized for this workshop to give participants a comprehensive
understanding of the OSHA guidelines.
Course Instructor:
Van Henson is from the South Carolina office of Occupational Safety
And Health Administration (OSHA). Van is a native of Great Falls,
now residing in Blythewood where he is employed as a training
coordinator with the Office of OSHA Voluntary Programs (OVP).
Van's responsibilities include providing safety and health training
to businesses and industries throughout South Carolina on various
OSHA standards as they apply to their companies. Van was also
a member of the OSHA World Trade Center Emergency Response Team,
where he helped to identify and track safety and health hazards
at ground zero. Prior to OVP, Van was employed as a compliance
officer with OSHA. Van has also worked as an electrical helper
in residential construction, a quality control inspector in the
textile industry, a foundry worker, and in automotive body shops.
Van graduated from Newberry College with a bachelor's degree in
Business Administration and a minor in Industrial Safety and Health.
Who Should Attend:
Individuals at the local or state level who have the responsibility
for eliminating safety and health hazards in the work place. Any
individual, agency, or firm wanting to promote proper safety techniques
