UPDATE: TIGER BAND PLAZA IS NOW "TIGER BAND SPIRIT POINT"

Plans for the new Tiger Band Plaza at the practice field near the Brooks Center have taken an artistic turn over the last couple of months. The same team that worked on other campus landmarks (Military Heritage Plaza and the new Memorial/Scroll of Honor) held a design charrette with constituents of the project including the band directors, students, administrators, architects, and CUTBA which resulted in an exciting redesign!

New aspects in the redesign include the band rehearsal tower moving from the Perimeter Road side of the field to the campus side and a new path between the practice field and Brooks Center.

This will allow the public and band students to pass over the story of Tiger Band inscribed on the path and through the new structure on the their way to the field. In addition, a future phase involving an exciting new sculpture will make Spirit Point a destination spot on campus.

There are still a few naming opportunities for alumni and friends to take part in; please contact Rob Porter at 864-656-1655 or by email at rporter@clemson.edu to find out more.

In addition, you may download a form to purchase a brick that can be inscribed with your name and instrument or as a memorial by clicking on the following link. Plaza Brick Order Form

TIGER BAND PLAZA

Clemson University Tiger Band Association (CUTBA) has unveiled plans for a Tiger Band Plaza to be built on the band practice field on Perimeter Road.

"The plaza will provide a special place for our band members and their parents to assemble, and it will be an excellent recruiting tool for prospective band students," said Mark Spede, Clemson band director. "It will be both a functional structure and a chronological monument to Tiger Band - and a beautiful addition to the campus".

Spede said fundraising for the project is under way. This project is part of Clemson's "The Will To Lead" capital campaign to raise $600 million to support students and faculty with scholarships, professorships, facilities, technology, and enhanced opportunities for learning and research.

"We see the plaza as a vehicle for all Tiger Band members to be a part of the university forever," Spede said. "They can have their name, instrument, and class year recorded in plaza bricks as a permanent testament for their time in the band."

CUTBA president Ed Evans said the group is especially proud the plaza project will help students directly.

"As the plaza contributions - both major gifts and the brick purchases - come in, the funds raised above the cost of the project will flow into a special endowment for Tiger Band scholarships," he said.

Evans said the plaza will be a place every Tiger Band member - past, present, and future - can visit and enjoy.

"The plaza will be a tribute to our efforts as the 'Guardians of the Clemson Spirit' and 'The Band That Shakes The Southland,'" he said.

If you are interested in purchasing a personalized brick to be included in the construction of the plaza, please submit the form found HERE.
