The geographic diversity in Alabama has not been fully tapped by recreational trail users in general. The equestrian trail users have been the least responsive to the trail development potential in our state. Lack of knowledge and within-user group controversy are the primary reasons for this problem. This conference will give trail users a chance to review the issues in Alabama from a range of perspectives. This panel will present perspectives of the pleasure rider, the competitive rider, the private landowner, and the public lands manager. In addition, the perspective of a trails maintenance volunteer with the U.S. Forest Service will be presented.
Our goal is to spark dialogue between these panelists and Conference participants that will lead to future alliances focused on creating positive solutions to trail issues in Alabama, as well as the Southeast region.
