Mentoring provides a great opportunity to learn from older students who have had similar experiences. FIRST participants are paired with a thriving upperclass mentor in the same field of study. Mentors are also students who are the first in their family to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
Your mentor will meet with you weekly to give you support, encouragement and advice about the Clemson experience. A mentor can give you the scoop about a class or help you out with a roommate issue. Mentoring groups also give you an instant group of friends on campus.
Become a Mentor
If you're a CAFLS or COES student interested in becoming a mentor for FIRST students and you have completed at least one semester and are a first-generation student with a GPA of 2.5 or better, please complete the Mentor Application. Make sure that you meet the qualifications listed on the application and submit electronically to first@clemson.edu.
