UWP has the greatest impact on the greatest number of teachers through its inservice programs. It is the National Writing Project's policy to offer inservice workshops in series, not as single sessions. Inservice programs are designed to meet the needs of local teachers and schools. The distinguishing characteristic of our inservice programs is teachers teaching teachers.
We can focus year-long professional development on these topics:
Professional Development Session packages include full day whole group sessions, full day in-classroom model lessons, after school sessions, and grade level planning. Packages can be customized to best fit the needs of your school.
See also SEED Research Brief.
Individual schools or districts may contract with Clemson to offer three hour graduate courses as part of the professional development. Courses are customized to meet your needs and may enroll up to 25 participants.
Upstate Writing Project also offers graduate courses focused on writing at the University Center. These courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters.
