Susan Hoffman Merrill

Susan is a teacher at Stone Academy in Downtown Greenville.  She has a degree in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop University and is currently working on a Master's degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson University.  She has been a Teacher Consultant with the Upstate Writing Project since 2004 and is excited to return for a fourth year as a mentor with the Young Writers' Camp.  In her more than 10 years as an educator, Susan has taught Pre-K, second grade, third grade, and technology.  Beyond the classroom, Susan enjoys reading, writing, and camping.

Myra Montgomery

Mrya teaches all 5th graders reading and writing at Spearman Elementary in Anderson District 1.  Her teaching experiences have involved all grades from K to 8th.  She has been involved in education over twenty years as an elementary teacher, the Educational Specialist for South East Missouri Head Starts, and as a developer of Christian Education curriculum.  She is a Teacher's Writing Consultant and Specialist through Clemson's Upstate Writing Project.  Myra spent most of her life in Arizona where she attended Ottawa and Arizona State University.  She is married and has two daughters.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, dabbling in altered art and educational technology.

 

 

Brian Slusher

Brian teaches English and Drama at Mauldin High School. He has been active in the Upstate Writing Project as a Teacher Consultant, and in the National Writing Project as an E-Team member on the E-Anthology, an electronic publication for teacher-writers. He is a practicing poet, publishing in magazines and anthologies. His chapbook Waking in the Driver's Seat is available from Stepping Stones Press.   Brian has worked with the YWC since it began in 2006.

 

Kelly Tracy

Kelly is an Assistant Professor of Education at Erskine College in Due West and a former elementary school teacher.  She is currently co-editor of the SCIRA journal Reading Matters and will complete her doctorate at Clemson University this summer.  She participated in the Upstate Writing Project's 2004 Summer Institute and has since worked extensively with the Upstate Writing Project as a Teacher Consultant.  Kelly began directing the Young Writers' Camp in 2006.
