Tim banged his alarm clock. He heaved himself out of bed, swaggered to the hall, and headed down the stairs to the kitchen. "Morning, Ma." he mumbled, slipping into a chair. "Guten Morgen, Liebschein." his Mother grinned. "Aw, Ma!" Tim groaned groggily. " No German at dawn." "Perdone, Tim. But it's the only way to study for my test." His mother had been studying so vehemently these past months she spoke a different language every day! "Mornin', all." Tim's father rolled in on his hoverchair. Ever since Tim's father lost the use of his legs, Tim's mom had been trying to get a job as translator for months now to put Tim through high school. " Well, I'm off to school." said Tim, who was already dressed. His mom said,"I'll drive you, Tim." On the way to school, Mom started practicing German again. " Aww, Ma! Could you stop jabbering German for just a cotton-pickin' minute?" " Tim! You know I need this job!" "You've never done anything for me, so why should I do something for you?" "That does it, mister! You can walk from here!" Later, after Tim reaches his first class, he sees the days schedule: a German exam. "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!" |
