A Day In the Life of a Mew Mew

 

 

       See that girl there, laying in her bed, asleep? That's me, Moka Tsukuni. I had no idea this would be the star of the weirdest day of my life...

"Moka! Wake up you lazy bum!" I jolted awake, hearing my sister, Rachel, screaming into my ear. "Come on!" she complained, "Mom says you've gotta take me to the zoo today!""What?!" I said shocked, "There's no flippin' way I'm taking you there. That place is for babies, and what if someone from my school sees me there? You're eight years old, you can take yourself!"

And, of course, I had to take my sister to the zoo, or no allowance for a week. I'd have to bring my iPod or something to keep me busy.

             I sat on the bench by the bathrooms as my sister was using the restrooms. As I played my favorite songs on my iPod, I looked at the people around me. A boy, not much older than me, sat next to me. His eyes were focused on the floor, not caring what other people thought. Across from me on the other benches was a girl with jet black hair, almost purple. Her eyes were glued to the book she was reading( it was some manga book ). Sitting next to her was a preppy-looking girl with blond hair, texting on her cell, man, did I think that preppy people were so lame. Another girl, looking a little younger than myself, was bent down, tying her shoe laces. Her jet black  hair glistened in the light, as her easy eyes focused on her laces. Then, I notice a old-looking man pushing a large cart with many bottles sitting on them. His hair was dark and shaggy, and very messy. He wore a white cloak, like the kind a scientist would wear. Then, running over a large rock, the cart tripped over, spilling liquids all over the four people around me and myself. "Hey! Watch it!" the preppy girl yelled. "Uh,oh..." the man whispered, then ran off in a panic. That was weird... "Okay," my sister said, walking out of the restrooms, blowing my concentration as she kept talking, "let's go home now."

             As I slept that night, I knew something was wrong with me. I could feel fire spreading through my being, like some kind of power. I also had a dream, I was holding some kind of stone and shouted," Mew Mew Moka Metamorphosis!" then I started changing... but then I woke up by my alarm clock. After turning it off, I notice something in my hand- it was the same stone I had in my dream. Every part of me told me to through it away and scream, but I was too curious for that. I got up and went to my mirror to brush my hair and almost did scream with what I saw in the mirror- I had fox ears!!! "N-no! this can't be happening... no way-no way is this happening, not to me!!!" Then I looked behind me and screamed-I had a big fat tail, too!" "Moka, is everything all right?" my mom yelled from down stairs. "Yeah..." I lied "Everything's fine..." This was a lie-I knew that much- buy I can't go to school like this! I'd have to wear gens along with a beanie to cover up my..."foxness"

             "Okay, Moka... find your happy place..." I whispered to myself that morning. How could this have happened to me all of a sudden? Was it something I did yesterday? I sat there for a moment, going through my day, thinking of what went wrong. Then, it hit me. I remembered when that man spelt those strange looking liquids on me. Wait a minute! That meant those other people must have something happening to them as well! I had to find them- and quick!

             I sighed, it was lunch and I still hadn't found any of the people I saw at the zoo. As I grabbed my lunch bag, I notice a familiar figure wearing pink and texting on a cell. Yes! I finally found someone! After chasing her through the crowds, I caught up with her," Hey! What's-your-face!" She turned around to face me, "Wha-?" "Hey, you were at the zoo yesterday-right?!" I puffed out of breath from chasing her through the halls. "Uh...yeah..." she replied a bit nervous. "And some dude spilled some kinda liquid on you, right?!""...Yeah...""okay, then!" I grabbed her hand and dragged her into the girls' bathroom."Hey?!What are you doing?!Let go of me!!!" I then pulled off her beanie that she, too, wore on her head. She gasped-"Don't do that!!!" Then, suddenly, a pair of bunny ears popped out of her head. Then, I pulled of my hat, revealing my fox ears," Ya see? The same thing happened to me, too!"

             "Oh... my... God...!" she breathed, shocked . " And there's still other people out there!""Whadaya mean?""I mean is that those three other people are still out there! We've gotta find them!""I'm Kurumu Sui,"( sorry, I decided to change it to Kurumu since it takes place in Tokyo ) she said."I'm Moka Tsukuni-" I nearly didn't finish when she blurted out- "I know two of the people!"" You what?!""Yeah! That nerdy girl is Yokai Sokia, and the dude is Saizo Iik.""Do you know them?""Of course! How else would I know them? Duh," I was a little taken aback by Kurumu's snotty response. But then again, this was the kinda person Kurumu  was, after all. "C'mon!" Kurumu said impatiently, all ready running out the door into the hall," Let's go find 'em!"

I had no idea this was only the start of my usual mew mew life…

             At lunch, Kurumu and I were able to find Yokai and Saizo and we began talking about what must've happened. Turns out, Yokai had the parts of a skunk and Saizo had parts of a bat. We concluded that it must've been those bottles that the scientist had dumped on us. Kurumu mentioned the "mew mews" they were five girls who had parts of animals like us and had to defeat these... "alien" things and they were able to turn back to normal.

"So... if the original mew mews were all ready turned back to normal..." I began,"...then... that means... we're gonna be stuck like this forever?!!" I finished in a panicking voice. "Like I wanna be a rabbit the rest of my life!" Kurumu complained in a whining tone. Then, the whole group began arguing on how this wasn't fair. I snapped and stood out of my chair- " SHUT UP!!!" the table then became dead silent, and they all stared up at me. "Suck it up! We've got these powers- there's nothing we can do about it. So stop complaining and let's go up and go find that other mew mew!"

Later, when it seemed hopeless of never finding her, Yokai said that she knew her as an old friend and found her. However...

"Leave me alone! I don't need friends!" she hissed "But Saki!" said Yokai, in a sorrowful voice. " These powers are now are responsibilities! You can't just ignore them!" "Oh yeah?" Saki said, "Watch me." "But we finally found you!" Kurumu said running up and grabbed her shoulder. " I just said, I don't need friends!" Saki said shoving Kurumu to the ground. "Leave me alone, you guys are freaks." We all gasped, even Saizo, who was usually quiet. Then, the school bell rang- school was over for the day. Then, Saki disappeared.

             It was lunch.  We all usually sat together, since we were all "mew mews". Yet since going to the zoo, I've changed. My appetite’s bigger (guess you could say I've got the appetite of a fox ) I'm doing way better in gym, and all my senses are sharper. For instance, I can hear all the conversations going on in the cafeteria. Like that girl over there is saying how hard the history test was. And that guy over there telling his girlfriend that they should see other people, and she says for all she cares, he can go eat- wait a sec', isn't this a Catholic school?!

Then, we all looked up in shock as we noticed a familiar figure standing next to us- Saki!

"You're back!" Yokai cheered happily "What made you come back?" I asked. She simply shrugged, "I might as well, I've got nothing to lose."

Then, suddenly, without warning, the ground shook."Woaahhhh!" I screamed, falling to the ground."What the heck is going on?!" Kurumu screamed."It's an earth quake!" Saizo pronounced. "How can you tell?!" Saki yelled over the screaming teens in the lunch room. "I know this sounds strange... but... I can hear it...!""Well, in that case, we've gotta get everyone outta here!"I said. This was it, the moment where everyone was counting on us...but... could we really save a whole school...?

June 16, 1725, England 

                         I, Jadely Marie Rose, princess of Sunset Bay Castle, write this in my own hand. I, unlike many other princesses, prefer writing myself. I want to keep my business, my business. I've decided to write because I'm in fear of the pirates. Lately, we, the English, have been at a "war" with them. Oh, those wretched, bloody pirates! They've attacked every town up the border! All except our town, Sunset Bay, and the castle... I fear the worst. Woe is me!

June 20, 1725

           Being royal comes at a price. Though I have countless jewels, money, and my dear pet ferret, Tucker,( which only I and him know he can talk ) and my constant companion, but I can't have what I really want- Freedom. This castle is a prison for me. All I've ever wanted to do my entire life is to explore the unknown and travel the glob at sea. So, there is only one way I can do this- I need to find a pirate.

June 20, 7:30

             Tonight, with Tucker around my neck and shoulder as usual, I set off in search of a pirate, any pirate, who could take me out to sea.

June 20, 10:00

             You wouldn't believe the night I had! I met a pirate! A real-live pirate! Though my plan didn't turn out as well as I planned... Picture the town streets- dark and as cold as death. I wore a black cloak to hide my identity, just in case. "I don't think this is a good idea, Jade..." Tucker said with his voice a little shaken. Then, suddenly, a dark figure burst from the shadows. I gasped, "Who're you?!""Ha! Like I'm gonna tell you!" he spat laughing. Then, he charged towards me, sword in hand, ready for a fight. Stunned, I pulled out my own sword which I had hidden under my cloak, I pulled it in front of me to defend myself. Our swords mad e a clashing sound as they hit. I held the handle of my sword in my right hand and had my left palm laid out flat so I could hold the razor sharp tip. It was nearly no use, the pirate relentlessly slammed his sword against mine, I could feel the tip of my blade piercing my hand. With every blow he gave I could feel my feet slip about an inch, and I was nearly about to fall, what was I supposed to do? I needed to do something- and quick!

             So then, I swung my sword against his, causing him to lose his grip on it and making it fly through the air. I sneered with triumph as I approached him- time to ask him if I could join what ever crew he's apart of. But apparently, he must've figured I was still about the attack him since he pulled out a small pistol and pointed it at me, ready to fire. I gasped and jumped back in fear, dropping my sword. Would he really shoot me? "Take off your hood," he ordered. I stood petrified, not too sure whether to follow his orders or to just run away. "Take it off!" he then barked. As I lifted my hood, my hands began to tremble in fear, my lip quivered, and my eyes were locked on the pirate. Then, when I took it off, he stared in shock. "J-J-Jadley Rose...?!" he stammered. Then, ran off into the darkness.

June 20

             I've discovered where that pirate and the rest of his crew are hiding! They keep their ship in a cave called "Sunset cove", right next to the harbor. If I could just pretend to be a man, it'll all work out okay, right...? So, tonight, I’ll see if I can enter the crew!

June 20, 12:00

             Well, I've made it, I'm still alive! And now on the Silver Moon, the pirate's ship. I disguised myself as a man and snuck into the cave. I told them I wanted to join the crew and they almost let me join- until some drunk pirate ran into me, knocking off my hood. "Uh...Jade...?" Tucker whispered nervously, "This might be a good time to run now!""No!" I said."We've got to do this, this may be our only chance... I'm not afraid to die!" The pirates began laughing at me at the fact that I was a girl. "What makes you think you're good enough to join a pirate ship!" Then, I notice a familiar figure- the pirate I fought, "Because," I said, pointing towards the pirate, "I beat him in battle!" The pirates turned to face him and began laughing hysterically, "The Captain of the Silver Moon couldn't even defeat a little girl!" one spat. I jumped, I fought the captain and won? I knew I was good in sword fighting, but I'm not that good. The captain glared at me for a moment, deciding what to do next."All right, then," he said. "She can join... if she survives."

The captain then began to walk towards me, I could feel Tucker backing up on my neck, hiding from sight. "Don't worry," I whispered, "Everything's all right now." I felt like eating my own words when the captain pulled out his sword and set the tip of the blade on my neck," You got lucky you're even standing here," he growled, "Just remember this- your problems, are your problems, got it?" I just nodded my head, afraid to speak. "Good," he said smiling," My name's Captain Samuel Jackson, but the crew just calls me Sam," he said, holding out his hand. "Uh... Jade," I said shaking his hand. Then, he walked away, giving his crew orders. This was it, my life of piracy begins now...
