Saved

The large man exits the stage

To the right.

Chasen and his band makes there

Way up slowly, but at a steady pace.

The religious music starts.

I can see the speakers vibrating from the bass.

He begins to sing my favorite song as

The people of all shapes and sizes make

There way to the front of the stage.

They are going to pray.

They are going talk.

It is their own business, and

Each of them know the feeling.

They are going

Up there to make things right.

I watch, and I'm confused.

I don't know whether I need to go or not.

I keep thinking of what people will

Say or think of me, if I do go.

But that doesn't matter.

I can't hear the music now.

All I can hear is a type of ringing

Or emptiness inside of eardrum.

And inside I feel a tug.

Pulling me to the stage.

My whole body on the inside is twisting.

I can't talk.

I can't hear.

I am getting dizzy.

I still feel the tug.

I can feel my legs moving,

But my body isn't moving.

I can feel my heart moving,

And telling me to go,

But I am not moving.

Something is holding me back.

And I know it's not God.

For He is the one pulling.

Then I know.

I need to go.

Finally, obeying,

I get the strength to.

Slowly I make my way through the crowd

Of people that aren't there, but yet, they are.

I can't feel myself walking.

I feel like I am flying, or hovering over

The green and red, itchy carpet.

I feel like I can't breathe.

And then I stop.

And fall to my knees.

Tears began falling from my eyes.

I couldn't control it.

There were people around me, crying

And holding one another.

As I sat there, I can not explain the emotion

And heart break I felt.

It was indescribable.

I prayed.

I cried.

I just sat there with eyes

Tightly shut, so I was protected.

Now, I feel that everywhere I go.

And time I take a step.

Every time I speak.

I am saved.

End

Why does everything come to an end?

I lay on my warm bed at night

And realize everything ends.

But why?

Why do seasons end?

Why do television shows end?

Why does every warranty on an

Item end?

Why does life end?

Life is such a gift.

Everything I own in life is such a gift,

Granted to me from above.

And yet, I still don't appreciate it.

I still don't appreciate every moment

In my life.

I don't appreciate life itself.

Most people don't.

So what will they say when something

Ends?

With all of this,

I still don't know why everything comes to an end.

Is it because we are human,

And can't do anything perfect?

Is it because eventually we die?

But some people don't realize,

That life in Heaven,

Never ends,

Because you are with God.

I think I know now.

There is only one thing that doesn't end.

Rhino Rescue

Ch. 1

Beep, beep, beep! Michael slammed his hand down on his alarm clock. He jumped out of bed, ran to the hall, and raced down the steps to the kitchen. “Hi, Mom.” he greeted as he was darting towards the door. Suddenly, he jerked to a halt. He realized, he didn’t have any shoes on. The boy fell to the floor, snatched his shoes and carried them out of the house. “Michael, come back!” his mother yelled, but Michael kept on zooming down the sidewalk.

Michael lived in Africa with his mother. There are rarely any reports of rhinos being hunted, but it happened all the time. His mother was a nurse at Pelonomi Hospital and Michael tried to save rhinos. Michael was extremely late. The rhino hunt was going to begin at 8:00, and the time was 8:20.  He new he would never find them in the middle of the jungle, so he lurched towards the gun shots.  As he approached the hunters, four of them used to be his best friends, one called out “Hey! This hunt is for rhino killers, not rhino savers!” and the others laughed at Michael’s humiliation. Despite the insults repeatedly being thrown at him, Michael ignored it and continued in his path. When he reached the front of the group he protested, “Why do you kill these innocent rhinos. What if these rhinos were your loved ones?” Some of the hunters replied, “Well they aren’t our loved ones, so who cares?” Then they all rotated their heads to face the soft footsteps that were suspiciously arriving.

Ch. 2

The footsteps belonged to Michael’s mother. He groaned as he saw her coming. “Is your mother coming to rescue you, momma’s boy?” one of the young boys blurted out. He jerked around to see that the boy who said it was Kevin, one of Michael’s best friends. Well, he used to be. Michael leaped into the air as he heard another gun shot roar through the air and yelp bellow out and echo in the woods.

From there, Michael bolted towards the cries of help as his mother followed. The young boys and men filed out of the woods laughing, leaving behind the injured rhino, Michael, and his mother, Lisa. “Come on, Michael. There is nothing that we can do for this rhino. Just let it go.” his mother said with a quivering voice. “We can’t just let it go, it is a baby.” Michael replied. Lisa left the woods repeating the words, “Let’s go, Michael.” Michael shouted, “You go ahead, I’ll catch up.” He had a plan.

Michael new that this little rhino could be saved. So, he intended to save it. By now his mother would be at work, so he could do what every kid does when they find a pet that they want. He was going to hide it in the basement. Lisa never went down there because she was scared of spiders and snakes. When she needed something out of the basement, she sent Michael.

Ch. 3

He can’t pick up a rhino by himself, so he bolted towards his former friends’ house and snuck into their shed. He nervously opened the door to hear voices. Michael crouched down behind the bushes and waited. Once the familiar voices ended he tip-toed into the shed and scampered away with their hand truck. Michael was out of breath when he reached the baby rhino, who was getting weaker and weaker. He had to hurry.

Michael struggled to shove the baby rhino onto the hand truck as moaned helplessly. Once it was resting on the base, Michael hustled back to his large African home. He pulled the rhino, filled with agony, down the steps to the basement. Michael then spread out as many blankets as he could, without his mother noticing that they were gone, onto the cold, hard floor. Taking hold of the hefty hand truck, he removed the wounded rhino onto the warm cotton quilts, as it drifted off to sleep.

Ch. 4

“Michael! I’m home!” his mom yelled out into empty space. He scurried out of the basement and into the living room just as his mother was walking in. “Oh, hi mom.” Michael said anxiously, hoping that she wouldn’t suspect anything. He said casually, “How was work?” Lisa replied, “Fine. Are you still down about that baby rhino?” Suddenly a cry rang out through the house. “What was that?” Michael quickly thought up a lie. “Oh, it was me, because I’m so sad about the rhino.” Lisa looked suspiciously at Michael and then wondered off to the kitchen.

“Wow, that was close.” he thought to himself. Without worrying about the Ronald, the baby rhino’s name, he went off to bed. “Good night, Michael.” his mother said as she stepped into the room. “Can I go to work with you tomorrow? I want to see what it is like at a hospital.” Lisa replied, “Well you are a little bit too young to see injured people, and animals.” “Yes, but it may help me to understand that I may not be able to save all of the rhinos, and that some will die.” Michael replied. “Well, I guess you can.” Lisa said powerless. “Thank you! Good night.” Michael spoke softer and softer as Lisa walked out of the room. All night Michael kept thinking about his plan, step after step.

Ch. 5

Beep, beep, beep! Michael slammed his hand down on his alarm clock. He jumped out of bed, ran to the hall, and raced down the steps to the kitchen. “Hi, Mom.” he greeted. “Good morning. Did you sleep well?” Lisa asked. “Yes, did you?” “No. I kept hearing loud banging noises all night.” Michael was so startled by what she had said that he dropped a waffle on the floor. “Sorry. I will clean that up.” Michael declared. As they filed out the door of their African palace, Michael captured his book bag to put the supplies in.

Bang! Bang! Michael and Lisa stepped out of their Jeep and entered the hospital. “Don’t wander around everywhere and mess with the supplies.” Lisa warned him. “I won’t. Can I go to the animal hospital?” Michael asked. “I guess. But don’t bother anyone or get in the way.” Michael skipped through the somewhat crowded halls of Pelonomi Hospital to the animal section. As he saw doctors filing out of the supplies room, Michael crept in.

“Hey! What are you doing in here!” a large man called out to Michael. He quickly thought up a lie, “I am here to observe the supplies and the establishment.” “Well, make it quick!” the man snapped. Once the man finally left the room and he was sure no one else was coming, Michael rapidly took all of the supplies that he would need, and a few more. “I finally found you!” Michael turned to see his mother standing there with a worried expression. “Sorry. I have been looking at all of the animals.” “Are you ready to go?” Lisa asked. “Yes.”

Ch. 6

They left the hospital and drove home silently. Slam! Lisa and Michael walked into their home and went separate ways, to tend to their own activities. Michael crept down the stairs to the basement without Lisa noticing. “Hey, Ronald.” Michael whispered to comfort the little rhino. Calmly, he took the supplies out of his bag one by one. The baby rhino was slowly dying.

Michael carefully cleaned the rhino’s wounds, and then bandaged them. To help the Ronald, Michael supplied the rhino with a shot to help the pain stop. Once he was finished with the rhino’s needs, he covered him with a blanket, and left the basement. Michael felt good inside that he was helping a rhino fight for its life. If only his mom could feel the same way. Stomp, stomp, stomp! As Michael began treading up the steps he remembered something.

Earlier that day, when Michael was at the hospital he thought he saw someone watching him collecting medicine and supplies for the rhino. If someone was watching him, that meant, that whoever they were, they knew his plan. If it was one of his former friends, then he knew, that they would put a stop to it. If it was one of Lisa’s co-workers, they would tell his mom. He had to do something about this person, if it was a person, who saw him stealing medicine.

Ch. 7

Beep, beep, beep! Michael slammed his hand down on his alarm clock. He jumped out of bed, ran to the hall, and raced down the steps to the kitchen and out of the door, with his book bag on his shoulder. Luckily, he did this without waking his mom. It was 1:00 in the morning, and he intended to find the person who saw him. People who work at the animal hospital have to stay there all night, so he knew that he would find that person, if it was a person.

“What are you doing here?” a deep and mysterious voice asked. “Are you the one that saw me getting medicine and supplies yesterday?” Michael responded. “Yea. You were the kid putting all of the supplies in your book bag.” Even from the darkness of the lonely hospital, Michael could tell that this man was the one that he saw out of the corner of his eye. “Yes, that was me. Why did you just stay behind the corner and not stop me?” Michael asked. “I support what you are doing. I will not tell your mother, or former friends.”

Ch. 8

“How do know my mother and former friends?” asked Michael. “I have always been there, you just never notice.” the strange man said. “Well, what is your name?” questioned Michael. “That doesn’t matter. Let’s go.” Without a word Michael followed the man. They stepped into his car and drove to Michael’s house. He didn’t bother questioning how the man knew where his house was, they just got out and went to basement, silently.

“Give me the supplies.” the man said. Michael quickly reached over and handed him the supplies. Quickly, and without hesitation, the man began to help Ronald. When he was finished he left with only three words, “I’ll be back.” Michael didn’t know what to say.  The man came and gone with few words. Michael had a feeling that this man had a plan.

Beep, beep, beep! Michael slammed his hand down on his alarm clock. He jumped out of bed, ran to the hall, and raced down the steps to the kitchen. “Hi, Mom.” he greeted. “Good morning. Did you sleep well?” Lisa asked. “Yes. Can I go to work with you this morning?” Michael asked with a plan in mind. “Sure!” Lisa said excitedly. Before they left Michael went into the basement to make sure the rhino was okay. The only problem was that the rhino was gone. Bang, bang! Lisa and Michael stepped out of the car and rushed into the hospital, they were late.

Ch. 9

Michael wanted to find the man that had helped the rhino the night before.  He scrambled into the animal hospital and immediately found the man just standing there like he was waiting for Michael to come. “Where is the rhino?” Michael asked in a worried tone. “It was his time to go back to the wild.” the strange man said. “How do you know my mother and former friends?” “I know your mother because I work with her. I know your former friends because I am your former friend.” the man said. Then Michael realized that it was Dave, the only person that would talk to him when he first moved. Michael didn’t notice who he was because they had not talked in so long, or even looked at each other. “I am so sorry about everything I did to you, and thank you for helping my rhino.” Michael said.

“Why do you support me, if you are a rhino hunter?” Michael asked in shock. “Once I saw the pain in your eyes when the rhino was shot, I could relate to the pain, and I was hurt too.” Dave said. “Well, does that mean that we are friends again?” Michael asked. “Duh! Now lets go get some rhino hunters!” Dave said. Then they were off, just like old times, with a couple of rhinos on the side!

White

What is white?

White is the pure life I got when saved.

White is the soft cotton that

Is peeled off of that stick figure.

White is the cold blanket of snow

On a winter's morning.

White is a small church hiding into the mountains.

White is the blank sheet of paper

In need of something written on it.

It is the plain walls that leave you

In nothing extraordinary.

White is the puffy clouds

That glide across the pure blue sky.

The clouds that you stare at

Making shapes, for your pleasure.

The clouds sprawled out on a sunset sky.

White is the clean clothes

Hanging in your full closet.

White is how you feel after a good

Nights sleep.

White is everything.

White is life.

Your Green

Green is the soft blades of grass

Covered by water on a early summer morning.

It is lily pads that float along the surface of the water.

Green is the many different shapes of the leaves

On that tall oak tree in your back yard,

It is your favorite shirt

That you wear on your first date.

Green is the color that rolls

Off of your bristled paint brush when

You paint your room for the first time.

It is the soft color that covers the

Misty mountains, like a blanket, from a far off distance.

Green is your favorite color.

It is the color you decorate your birthday party in.

The fun that you have with your best friends.

Green is the light on the computer

That tells you that it is on.

Green is the traffic lights that watch

To tell you when to drive.

It is the beauty of someone's eyes

As you look deeply into them.

Green is the blanket on your bed that keeps

You warm during the chilling winter.

It is the lamp on your desk that fills the room

Up with a glow.

The money you gave the clerk when you

Bought that green, patterned dress.

Green is the polka-dots you have

On your silk bed.

Green is your life.
