Projects and Research Clemson Extension is currently involved in several projects and research programs to help improve and protect South Carolina's water quality. Hydrologic Unit Areas South Carolina currently has two Hydrologic Unit Areas (HUAs). The projects were initially conceived as a part of President George Bush's Water Quality Initiative and were implemented as 5 year projects. The projects are based on watershed areas (rather than political boundaries) and have both been extended in order to allow completion of several projects implemented in these areas. The Lake Bowen watershed is a primarily urban watershed, while Bush River / Camping Creek watershed (draining into Lake Murray) is primarily forestland and agriculture. Visit the web sites for these projects for more information. |
