Summer 4-H Camp

Summer camp is one of the most valuable learning experiences a child can have.

South Carolina 4-H Camping has been a tradition for more than 70 years. 4-H Camp is located at Camp Bob Cooper, near Summerton & Santee, SC, on Lake Marion. Camp Bob Cooper has been a vital part of the 4-H camping experience over the years. Campers will enjoy the traditional camping experience along with new activities.

Camp Bob Cooper covers 110 acres, perched on the shores of beautiful Lake Marion. While there, campers will get a change of pace from their usual surroundings and will have a unique opportunity to experience the great outdoors.

4-H Camp is designed to give boys and girls, ages 8-16, the chance to explore the great outdoors and enjoy the thrills of new experiences and friends. Campers are divided into groups for daily activities based on age and experience. At night, campers will come together for camp-wide activities designed to encourage camaraderie and friendship. Lodging assignments are made based on age and grade level. Requests for specific roommates will be honored for children within one year of age, if space is available. Special concerns about housing should be noted on the application. You do not need to be a member of 4-H to attend this camp.

Summer camp is one of the most valuable learning experiences a child can have. Young people today need strong relationships and emotional skills to meet the challenges of life today. Through camping, young people learn independence, responsibility, how to get along with others, and how to make the right decisions. Camp also emphasizes character development through cooperation, teamwork, and respect for both other people and our natural environment.

Camping also provides an opportunity to experience new and exciting activities. Climbing walls, swimming, archery, canoeing, and many other activities are offered in a safe, supervised environment where campers can explore new areas of interest with encouragement from trained counselors and staff.
