Youth Development Center

YDC assists students in identifying their interests and assessing their strengths and weaknesses, all in a natural, camp-like setting rather than behind the fence of a prison or juvenile detention facility. Students are encouraged to re-envision their dreams and learn that they can accomplish realistic goals. YDC enables students to move from being passive onlookers to active participants in their lives and, provides students with the supervision and programming they need to help them cope with their difficulties in a responsible, non-destructive way.

The primary educational goals for the program are:

  • Behavior modification
  • Improve study skills
  • Create a passion for learning

The key developmental goals to the program are:

  • Develop leadership skills
  • Develop life skills
  • Develop career options

The program utilizes a 12-week cycle of seven-day educational and recreational modules. Participants can enter at the beginning of any module and complete a full 12-week cycle. These modules focus on:

  • Environmental Science
  • Technology
  • Aerospace
