Global Engagement Student Testimonials

“While I was studying at Maastricht University in Maastricht, Netherlands, I got to experience the best of both worlds at a renowned university with challenging and engaging classes and a timeless and centrally located European city. My time abroad helped me to make new friends with people all over the United States and the globe, learn a new language and discover Dutch culture and expand my mind academically with new and engaging experiences in the classroom and in the professional world. And because orange is the national color of the Netherlands, it was the perfect place to wear my Clemson orange rain jacket!”

“Studying at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia, allowed me to interact with people from so many different backgrounds and gave me the opportunity to collaborate closely with them. The educational structure was very different there and provided me with the chance to see a different country's interpretation of a college experience. While in Australia, I got the opportunity to travel to places I may have never got the chance to visit otherwise, such as Bali, New Zealand and Fiji. I was able to become more independent and worldly through my abroad experience, and I am forever grateful for that!”

“The Clemson Business in Europe: Oxford Programme is one experience that I am still talking about to this very day. In a month's time, I was not only able to advance my academic curriculum, but I also found out a lot about myself as a person, which has helped me grow in unimaginable ways. Little did I know that the growth that I experienced would be the talking point of my interviews with potential employers and land me the job of my dreams.”

“The Education ABroad Network Semester in Thailand allowed me to immerse myself within the Thai culture - learning the language and religious practices - while discovering a new, deeper part of myself. I had the opportunity to travel much of Southeast Asia, absorbing new information inside and outside of the classroom setting. I am forever grateful for this transformative experience that Clemson has provided me with!”

“Going into study abroad, I had no idea what to expect. However, I left London falling in love with the city, culture and most importantly, friends I made. I had no other Clemson students going into the program so I was eager to meet my roommates and peers in the program - who I now talk to daily. London is a beautiful city that reminded me of my home city, New York. My program offered so much both socially and educational wise. City University and London schooling are extremely different from the U.S. as there are no electives, and classes meet much more infrequently. Having the ability to fulfill my marketing major in another country gave me a different and more versed perspective. I’m so happy with my decision in picking London and cannot wait until I can go back!”

“I studied with a third-party program in Paris, France, through CEA’s International Business Program. Through this program, I attended a class at ESSCA School of Management, a French-run business school. I also was able to work on a semester-long business project with a native Parisian student. Although my experience was cut short, the transition to working online was made as seamless as possible. The experience was truly unforgettable, and I hope to return back to Paris one day to reconnect with the friends I made.”

“I got the chance to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain, with CEA in the Spring of 2020. While abroad, I was able to grow as a student and a person. My professors were all well-traveled and brought globally aware and culturally diverse cases to class. Between the vibrant Las Ramblas streets and markets filled with merchants, the morning cafes and the neighborhood basketball courts, I had plenty of chances to practice my Spanish and intercultural skills. Also, cheap flights around Europe allowed me to travel to some fascinating countries with my friends.”

“I had the opportunity to go to Singapore with The Education Abroad Network (TEAN) and study at Singapore Management University (SMU), which was located right in the heart of the city. I knew I wanted to study abroad in Asia but was worried about how I would connect with my professors and fellow peers if I did not know their language. Many people are surprised to hear that along with Malay, Tamil and Mandarin Chinese, English is actually one of Singapore’s national languages! SMU’s class structure emphasized group work and projects, which turned into me gaining so many Singaporean friends who really gave me the locals guide to maximizing Singapore. I also cannot recommend third party programs like TEAN more. I had one fellow Clemson student in my program, but the other 19 students were from various colleges around the U.S. This meant that I not only gained a Clemson friend and Singaporean friends but also friends from all across the U.S.!”
