Expectations of Participants

There are general expectations that all Tiger Ties mentoring pairs will be expected to honor. The expectations below are minimum expectations that should be accomplished in order to assure a more successful relationship.

  • Communicate on a regular basis, including meeting no less than once per month, face-to-face (if possible).
  • Set goals, modifying as needed.
  • Attend Tiger Ties orientation (one time only) and semester receptions and events.
  • Attend professional events together, including business meetings, social activities, philanthropic events, etc.
  • Have mutual respect for confidentiality, ideas, view, time and feelings; agree to our confidentiality agreement and Code of Conduct.
  • Complete program evaluations as requested by Tiger Ties staff.
  • Honor commitments.

Mentee/Student Requirements

Student participants must minimally meet the following standards:

  • Be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Clemson University majoring or minoring within business disciplines.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in having a mentor's guidance regarding career/professional development.
  • New mentees are required to attend a mandatory orientation.

Mentor/Clemson Alumni Requirements

Alumni participants must minimally meet the following standards:

  • Be a Clemson University graduate currently working in a business field.
  • Have seven or more years of professional experience.
  • Have affiliation with at least one professional/community organization, and be willing to incorporate a mentee into business aspects of the profession and organization.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in helping a Clemson student with career/professional development.
