GCEA Conference

About the Conference:

CREATE AN UPROAR! We are excited to invite GCEA back to Clemson University July 28 - August 1, 2019, for Camp Clemson.

While you are here, you'll have the opportunity to take in lectures on pedagogy, emerging technologies and hands-on labs in Godfrey Hall where we have a new Nilpeter, 7-station flexo press, a Mimaki digital press, an HP Indigo, 2 photography labs and more.

We'll also continue the GCEA tradition of ice cream and taking in a little of the local color around the Upstate.

Call for Proposals:

Please use this link to submit a proposal for a session or lab at the conference. The call closes on January 25th, 2019. We are looking for lightning sessions that run 25 minutes, 50-minute presentations including an activity, and 90-minute labs.

Presentation proposals should be focused on some facet of graphic communications. Encouraged topics include, but are not limited to pedagogy and teaching, new media (eg. web or app development), software, digital/analog print production, entrepreneurship, imaging (eg. photography or videography), business skills (eg. marketing or sales).

Getting here:

Located in the Upstate of South Carolina, we are two hours from major airports in Atlanta, GA (ATL) and Charlotte, NC (CLT) and only 45 minutes from GSP airport in Greenville, SC.

If you prefer train travel, the Amtrak also runs right through town.

Parking on campus is limited and incurs an additional $7/day fee.

Airport shuttles will be provided at specific times (posted in early 2019) between GSP and Clemson on July 28th and August 1st.

Housing:

We will have a dorm option available. Each full GCEA attendee will have their choice of a shared room or their own room. Bathrooms will be shared.

There are also nearby hotels if you prefer.

Additional information on dorm rooms and hotel rooms will be posted in early 2019.

Cost:

The estimated cost of the conference includes dorm accommodations, shuttle service, most meals, and the activity day.

  • $600 per person for GCEA attendee
  • $400 per person for spouse program
