Steps to Study Abroad

Interested in going abroad? Students should start their study abroad process by following these steps:

  1. Attend a Business Abroad 101 Information Session - Led by the Global Engagement Intern, this session will go over the different types of programs, how to choose a program, the application steps, and things to consider when planning an experience abroad.
Spring 2019 information session schedule: Mondays, 4-4:30 p.m. in Sirrine 133.
  2. Research Programs - Browse the recommended program options for business students on the Study Abroad Locations page first. The study abroad program search function in Terra Dotta (Clemson Abroad's online study abroad application tool) is another great resource. Keep in mind that the College of Business requires students to transfer most upper-level business credits from AACSB/EQUIS accredited institutions. See the College of Business Transfer Credit Policy for more information.
  3. Meet with Your Academic Advisor - Discuss how study abroad may fit into your degree program and which courses might be good to reserve for study abroad.
  4. Schedule an Appointment with an Advisor in Student Enrichment - Alex Hazleton, the Global Engagement Coordinator, is available to meet with students one-on-one to discuss specific questions with regards to study abroad. You may schedule an appointment with her here.
  5. Apply to Your Study Abroad Program Choice - All students who are planning on studying abroad must complete a Clemson Abroad Study Abroad application. To apply for a program, visit the Apply page. Once the application is approved, students must follow through on post-acceptance steps to ensure proper preparation for their experience abroad.
