Emily Goebelt is new to the world of education, but she brings a strong passion for teaching from her previous two years of experience teaching Elementary Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Even though Emily is a non-native Spanish speaker, her passion for the Spanish language is something that drives her to gain an understanding of unfamiliar topics. Emily started her educational journey at Central Piedmont Community College where she proudly served as a Student Ambassador for the 2015-2016 school year, graduating with her Associate of Arts. She then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and obtained three additional degrees. Emily is proud of her background as a community college student and a transfer student, and she is a firm supporter of students who have taken non-traditional routes to obtain their education. While working on her Masters, she was given the opportunity to serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in 2020. It was this position that solidified Emily’s passion for education. After graduating, she joined the faculty at UNC Charlotte as an MA Fellow where she taught full-time for one year. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Emily thrived in her position and developed a deep passion for education. She is very grateful for every opportunity that the world of education has provided her thus far: graduating debt-free, gaining teaching experience pre-graduation, and presenting at the Southeastern Association of Cultural Studies Conference (SEACS) 2021. However, Emily’s favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with her students. She demonstrates deep care for their well-being while simultaneously equipping them to achieve their individual learning goals. Emily is dedicated to being available to her students and working with them individually to impact their journey regardless of their field of study. She looks forward to gaining experience in the world of education and further impacting students in the years to come.
