Admission Requirements & Application Process

Admission to the Clemson University MRED Program requires submission of an official online application to Clemson's Graduate School. Admission is allowed only in the Summer II semester of the application year. 

Application Fee

The Graduate School requires a non-refundable application fee of $80 domestic or $90 international.

Please attach the following materials with your formal online application to the Graduate School.

Transcript(s)

Unofficial transcript(s) can be submitted with the online application in the unofficial category. Official transcripts are only required of applicants who are offered admission and intend to enroll. Review the Graduate School Supporting Materials page and/or the FAQs for information on application transcript submission and the difference between official and unofficial transcripts. Please also review the Graduate School's final official transcript policy.

Resume

Applicants should upload a current resume to the online application.

Interview

All applicants are required to have personal on-site interviews or via phone/video conference, prior to, or during application review.

Letters of Recommendation

Applicants will list the name and email addresses of three references on the online application. The Graduate School will send recommendation forms to each reference to complete.

GRE/GMAT Scores (Clemson's Institution Code is 5111)

Beginning with the 2020-2021 admissions cycle, GRE or GMAT scores will not be required for applicants; however, are strongly recommended as supplemental documentation for students with a low GPA (below 3.0). Test scores may be self-reported as part of the application. Any test scores submitted will be evaluated with other supporting materials as part of a holistic review process. Additional Requirements for the Experienced Development Professional (12-month)

  • 12-month sequence students are required to have at least three years of direct development experience.
  • Applicants for the 12-month sequence must submit a portfolio to the online application.

Additional Requirements for International Applicants

  • Either the Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (IETLS, TOEFL) or completion of ELS level 112 at an ELS Language School is required.

The MRED program seeks an interdisciplinary student body that has academic credentials and the capacity to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors. We have a strict selection process that requires students to demonstrate exceptional track records in undergraduate study, work experience and leadership endeavors. We evaluate the person’s whole record of performance and entrepreneurial ability. To maintain the personal scale of the program, entering classes are kept to fewer than 30 students per year.

*Later applications past the first and second round dates are accepted as seats are available. 

Please note:

  • Admission to the MRED Program is allowed only in the Second Summer II (SSII) semester on a full-time basis. 
  • Confirmation Payment: Admitted applicants who accept the MRED program admissions offer will be required to submit a $500 non-refundable confirmation payment expressing their intent to enroll and become eligible to complete the new graduate student onboarding process, including class registration.
  • Upon matriculation into the MRED program, $470 of the student’s $500 payment will be applied to tuition, minus a $30 processing fee.
